What Is an All-On-Four Procedure?

If you have missing teeth and are looking into ways you can restore your smile and overall oral health, odds are you’ve heard of dentures and implants. As you weigh your options, don’t overlook the All-On-Four procedure. The procedure is fairly new, so you may have never heard of it. But it can offer you some big advantages, namely a permanent set of teeth that look and feel totally natural.

The All-On-Four Procedure is perfect for patients with missing teeth who don’t want to live the rest of their lives wearing old-fashioned unsecured dentures. At Oral & Facial Surgeons of Arizona, the procedure is performed by a highly-skilled oral surgeon who can remove teeth and place fully functional implants in one office visit. That’s why we call it our “Teeth in a Day” procedure.

To ensure your comfort during this oral surgery, our employees are trained in administering different types of anesthesia, including local and general anesthesia, nitrous oxide and light sedation. During the procedure, an oral surgeon will replace your missing teeth with a full dental bridge supported by only four dental implants in an arch. Dental implants are tiny titanium posts that are surgically embedded into the bone and act as “roots” to anchor the prosthetic bridge. (Traditional implants utilize anywhere from five to eight implants in an arch.) With fewer implants needed, the overall treatment time is reduced.
