What Is Nitrous Oxide?
Nitrous oxide, also known as "laughing gas," is a gentle form of anesthesia that can help you relax during your procedure. Administered through a nasal mask, this method does not involve needles or pills and typically takes effect within 20 seconds. While it is not intended to induce deep sleep, some patients may drift into a light slumber during treatment. The effects of nitrous oxide wear off quickly, allowing most patients to drive themselves home without needing a recovery period. While many people are suitable candidates for this method, individuals with certain medical conditions may not be eligible. What Is IV Sedation?

General anesthesia involves a combination of IV sedation and inhaled gases to induce complete unconsciousness, ensuring patients feel no pain and are unresponsive during treatment. Patients typically have no memory of the procedure afterwards.
It's important to note that both IV sedation and general anesthesia require a recovery period for the effects to wear off. Patients will need to arrange for someone to drive them to and from the office on the day of their appointment.
