3 Steps for Making Sure Your Same Day Dental Implants Last a Lifetime

You won’t find this sure-fire investment listed on the New York Stock exchange, but there is a place you can plunk down your hard-earned cash where it’s purely yours to keep — no one can even tax it. Investing in your oral health, including same day dental implants, is always a good bet. Once your mouth is restored to its original state, same day dental implants can help you fend off periodontal disease. Poor oral hygiene has been linked to a host of other problems, including heart attacks, strokes and diabetes.

Considering the cost of same day dental implants, how can you get the best return on your investment? It’s really quite simple—implement a good oral hygiene program. Here’s how:

1. Brush at least twice daily. Use a soft-bristled toothbrush or an electric toothbrush. Positioning the brush at a 45-degree angle where your gums and teeth meet, gently move the brush in a side-to-side motion using small, gentle strokes. Brush the outside, inside and biting surfaces of your teeth for approximately two minutes.
2. Floss at least once daily. It’s important to floss your teeth to clean places your toothbrush can’t reach. Holding the floss tightly between the thumb and forefinger of each hand, gently insert the floss between the teeth, bring it to the gum line, curve it into a C-shape against one tooth and gently move the floss up and down. As the floss becomes soiled, move it to an unused section.
3. While daily brushing and flossing will keep dental plaque and calculus to a minimum, it’s still important to have routine professional cleanings at your dentist’s office. Only a professional can reach places your toothbrush and floss may have missed. Your dentist may recommend seeing a hygienist every three months instead of every six months.
